Church Magazines Matter

A special workshop for all church magazine editors


Saturday 18th November 2017, 10.00 am – 3.00 pm

At The Old Palace, Deansway, Worcester, WR1 2JE


This exciting workshop will cover most aspects of producing and enjoying effective church magazines.

What you want to know

Who could read your magazine

What to put inside and why

Advertisements and finance

How to make it a “must read”

Choosing and editing articles

Ways with photographs

Layout and typography

And a possible briefing on web publishing


The Worcester Workshop will be led by the Association for Church Editors with experienced speakers including:

Colin Reeves, journalist and magazine publisher (the organiser);

Keith Milmer (formerly an ACE Chairman)

Alan Rickards, ACE Treasurer

Ms Sam Setchell, Communications Officer for Worcester Diocese


Early booking is recommended. Costs are £5 for ACE members. For non-members the cost will be £10 and this will include free membership of the Association for twelve months.

Please bring a packed lunch and sample magazines.

The fee is mainly to cover expenses ad all-day hot drinks


Getting there

Worcester is close to many West Midlands routes and the M5 from Bristol to Birmingham. The Old Palace is near highly-visible Worcester cathedral. The nearest car park is Copenhagen Street (6 hours @ £10; www.worcester.gov.uk/parking-sites)

Trains run direct from most major stations south of Birmingham while those to the north may involve  changing trains at Birmingham New Street. Worcester Foregate Street station is about 10 minutes walk from the Old Palace.

Closing date for bookings is 11th November or sooner if fully booked
