Tim Cooke speaks to attendees on the use of websites for increasing church magazine reach and also on the new ACE website

‘The Ark’ at St Andrew’s church, Sonning, near Reading was a suitable venue for our Workshop in February, being one of the weekends with extreme wind and rain. After a warm welcome there were informative presentations on basic editing and layout, use of photographs, content and magazine finances. Attendees were from a variety of types of churches and producing magazines ranging from publications for church members with less than 200 copies in black and white to full colour parish magazines with a circulation of nearly 4,000. There was lively interaction with the speakers and we enjoyed meeting other editors and exchanging ideas and experiences. Many of those attending applied to join ACE having heard about the benefits it can offer before we all braved the weather and headed home.

From one of the attendees

“Being editor of a parish magazine is a lonely responsibility and I really enjoyed the coming together of editors. I was privileged to be asked to join your happy band and I look forward to many more exchanges in the pursuit of magazine excellence.”
